PORT MACQUARIE RADIO PERSONALITY NICK O'CALLAGHAN ON CHILD SEX CHARGES

A New South Wales regional radio identity has been charged with indecently assaulting a child and possessing child pornographic material.
On June 13, Nick Francis O'Callaghan, 52, was arrested at his house by child abuse squad detectives who allegedly found an undisclosed amount of child abuse material on a computer.
The arrest came after police received a report that earlier that week, a nine-year-old girl had been indecently assaulted by a man known to her family.
O'Callaghan remains on conditional bail after the matter was heard in the Port Macquarie Local Court today.
He is also facing an interim Apprehended Violence Order, which prevents him from having any contact with the alleged victim.
The matter was adjourned to the same court on September 5.
O'Callaghan was formerly the News Director at Port Macquarie radio station 2MC/Star FM, and the Station Manager has confirmed he has left his job for personal reasons.
